The Flower Moon in Scorpio: Release, Reveal, Reclaim

May’s full moon is known as the Flower Moon, a time when we’d typically picture vibrant blooms and wild abundance. But this year—even though the name promises blossoming—it doesn’t feel that way for me. Not right now.

I’m not bursting into blossom this spring. I’m navigating some tough health issues, and truthfully, it’s taking a toll. Perhaps that’s exactly why this moon feels so poignant: its magic isn’t about perfection. It’s about raw, soul-level truth—the kind that asks us to honor what hurts, to recognize what’s keeping us stuck, and then to release it.

A Moon That Digs Deep

This Flower Moon rises in Scorpio—a sign that doesn’t shy away from emotional depth. Scorpio brings transformation, emotional intensity, and sacred rebirth. It doesn’t ask us to pretend that everything is okay. Instead, it invites us to feel every bit of our truth—even if that means experiencing discomfort, sorrow, or even anger. For me, that’s a difficult but necessary process. It’s as if this moon is saying, “I’m not here to polish the pain; I’m here to expose it so you can begin to heal.”

What This Moon Means to Me (and Maybe to You, Too)

Moon rituals aren’t scheduled or scripted for me—they’re moments when the energy feels right. Sometimes I sit quietly with a candle and let my thoughts wander. Other times, I write down the heaviness I want to release and carefully burn the page, sending those burdens into the ether. I practice gratitude for even the smallest bits of light, because on the hardest days, those small things are monumental.

This full moon is offering a portal for release, reflection, and reclamation. I’m not in a phase of blooming right now; I’m pruning. I’m making space by letting go of what no longer serves me. And I honor that process—because sometimes growth isn’t pretty. Sometimes it looks like tears, like shedding old skins, like surrender. And that’s still growth. That’s still sacred unfolding.

Themes of the May 2025 Flower Moon

Letting Go: This is a season for shedding old thoughts, stagnant energy, and emotional weight. Ask yourself, what’s taking up too much space in your spirit?

Facing Truth: Scorpio pulls no punches. The moon might stir up feelings or memories you’ve tucked away. It’s okay to face them—even if it’s scary.

Emotional Power: Underneath the heaviness is strength. Even on the hardest days, remember: you are not broken; you’re in the process of becoming.

Honoring the Process: Healing isn’t linear or neat like a bundle of sage. Sometimes it’s simply sitting with your own stillness and acknowledging that showing up is enough.

Your Moon, Your Way

I’m sharing a ritual graphic with this post—not because it’s the “right” way, but because it’s one tool that has helped me when I’ve needed clarity or release. Use it if it resonates, adapt it to fit your own needs, or feel free to ignore it completely. The important thing is that you carve out your own personal space under this moon.

If this moon stirs something in you, remember don’t rush to fix it. Sit with the feeling. Write about it. Cry if you need to. Create a ritual that speaks to your spirit—light a candle, take a salt bath, walk barefoot in the grass, burn away what you’re done carrying. There’s no one correct way to honor this moment. Your journey of untangling and blooming is entirely your own.

When Blooming Looks More Like Pruning

There’s so much talk about blossoming during this time of year—about thriving, about bursting into full bloom like the flowers that give this moon its name. But here’s the truth: I’m not blooming right now. In fact, my body is pushing me to the edge with pain, fatigue, and moments when nothing seems to work the way it should. And maybe that’s okay.

This Flower Moon in Scorpio isn’t about pretending that everything is perfect. It’s about embracing the rawness—the tears, the breaks, the moments of simply surviving—and calling that sacred. Sometimes, growth is found in the depths of our struggles; sometimes it’s a quiet act of pruning that prepares our inner garden for eventual renewal.

Moon Magic Isn’t Always Polished

I don’t follow strict moon schedules or pre-packaged rituals. I follow my feelings. When a moon calls to me, I answer in the way that feels most honest. Some nights, that means writing down what weighs me down and releasing it through fire or water. Other nights, it means lighting a candle and sitting in silence, because sometimes the quiet holds the answers.

This Flower Moon doesn’t feel like a burst of color and life—it feels like a careful, necessary pruning. It feels like taking a shaky breath and saying, “This is where I am. And that’s enough.”

Scorpio: The Deep Diver of the Zodiac

Scorpio doesn’t live on the surface. It swims in the murky waters of transformation, inviting us to confront the truths we often bury. Under this moon’s influence, grief, frustration, and a longing for change might surface. It’s a reminder that sometimes death—of old habits, old beliefs, or emotional baggage—precedes the rebirth of something new. Scorpio asks us:

  • What beliefs are keeping you small?
  • What emotions have you been too afraid to feel?
  • What version of yourself have you outgrown?

You don’t always need a cosmic breakthrough. Sometimes, you just need the courage to feel the damn thing.

If You’re Feeling It Too…

If your body is tired, your heart heavy, or your soul feels stuck, know this: even if you can’t see it yet, you are still growing. Sometimes growth is invisible, the tiny silent shifts under the surface that build resilience over time. Sometimes it’s in the decision not to give up, even when every part of you wants to. That, in itself, is powerful and sacred.

Take what works for you from this post and leave the rest. This is your path—a personal, messy, and beautiful journey of release, rebirth, and reclamation. Let the Flower Moon remind you that even when the world expects you to bloom, you are free to decide when and how you rise.

If this full moon speaks to you, I invite you to share your own experiences. How are you honoring this season of release and transformation?
